Michael Van Impe

Chief Learning Officer

Michael Van Impe is the Chief Learning Advisor at Leadership Transition. He is a seasoned expert in organizational transformation and leadership development, with over 25 years of experience partnering with CEOs and executive leadership teams worldwide. Recognizing the unique challenges of a world shaped by longer life spans and rapid change, Michael is committed to guiding leaders through career transitions and fostering lifelong learning to help them thrive in a multi-stage life.


Throughout his career, Michael has led transformation initiatives across diverse sectors, blending business acumen with a deep understanding of human dynamics. He set-up the Leadership Advisory Practice for Russell Reynolds in Brussels, and previously co-led PwC Belgium's HR & Change management consulting team. He has also held leadership roles at Korn Ferry, Pivot Leadership, and the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL) EMEA, where he launched CCL Professional Services, the organization’s advisory arm.


Earlier in his career, Michael gained extensive experience in Customer Care, Sales Operations, Product Development, M&A, and Corporate Finance, and served as a Non-Executive Director, Statutory Director, and audit committee member for companies in the telecom sector. His broad expertise equips him to support leaders in navigating both the technical and human aspects of career transitions and organizational change.


With an academic foundation in economics and organizational psychology, Michael leverages insights from both disciplines to help leaders adapt to evolving career paths. He holds an M.Sc. in

Economics from KU Leuven – Campus Antwerp, and an Executive Master’s Degree in Organizational Psychology with a specialization in Change Leadership from Teachers College, Columbia University. Michael is also an accredited Executive Coach and certified in various psychometric instruments.


Michael’s global perspective stems from living and working across Europe, the USA, Russia, Turkey, and China. He is a Fellow at the Institute of Directors in the United Kingdom, a guest lecturer at KU

Leuven FEB, and a co-author of Inside the Leader's Mind (2017).


Today, Michael focuses on empowering leaders to embrace longevity, adapt to multi-stage careers, and engage in lifelong learning as they navigate personal and professional transitions in a rapidly changing world.
